Compassionate Dentistry for Kids. What Sets Us Apart?

Welcome to We Make Kids Smile, where, as our name suggests, we do make kids smile! We don’t just treat kids, we specialize in them – from infancy to young adulthood, including those with special needs and medical concerns.

Our Vision

Our pediatric dentists focus on preventive care to help each child maintain a healthy smile that will last a lifetime, and to educate our parents and children on the importance of dental health.

Award Winning

Dr. Felix Aguto is proud to have been voted by his peers as a Top Pediatric Dentist in the Washingtonian Magazine in 2017 and 2019. He was voted most likely for other dentists to send their family.

Special Needs

At We Make Kids Smile, we believe every child is special. But we are aware that some children have individual needs that may require extra care during dental procedures. We will tailor your child’s visit to their unique condition so that your child can receive the comfortable, anxiety-free dentistry they need and deserve.

Hospital Dentistry

Some children cannot tolerate routine dental restorative procedures while awake in a normal clinical-office setting. Young age, high anxiety, special needs or extensive dental decay are the reasons that we recommend a child’s dental treatment be completed in a hospital setting.

We get a lot of questions, here are some of our answers.

How old should my child be for his or her first dental visit?

We recommend bringing your child for her first visit around the first birthday. However, it’s never too early to bring your baby, and some parents will make the first visit as soon as the first tooth erupts!

How long will the appointment take?

The amount of time needed to make you child comfortable and to care for their dental needs can vary. For a regular checkup, an appointment will last approximately one hour, on average. If your child needs a restorative procedure or your child has special needs to take into consideration, please ask one of our friendly Smile Team members when you are scheduling your appointment and they can give you an idea of how long to plan for your appointment.

Do you see special needs patients?

Yes, our office is here to provide access to good dental care for children with special needs. Our office staff is trained to work with children of all kinds of intellectual and medical diagnoses.

During your child’s first visits, our dentist can evaluate and discuss dental development, and help you create the most appropriate home care routine for your family. By working closely with our office to put a prevention plan in place, many potential dental problems can be avoided entirely.

If your child does need to have any restorative work, you can rest assured that our staff works from your very first appointment to help ease your child’s anxieties. We are well-prepared to help your child be comfortable with the care they need, and we dedicate ourselves to providing that care in a compassionate manner.

Do you do office tours?

We welcome you to call and schedule a Happy Visit for your child. During this time, we can introduce your child to our office environment and all the people they will meet during their visit. This will help minimize any anxiety your child might have when coming back for their regular appointment.
